_ We all have days when ego gets the best of us. It is much easier to focus on the negative when things aren’t going your way than to look on the bright side. When “monkey mind” takes hold, here are a few tips that can help you stay sane ….. Tips to Kick Your Ego to the Curb: 1.Don’t dwell on past mistakes, instead learn from the past; don’t beat yourself up about it. It’s gone, and it’s never coming back. Instead, find one lesson you learned from this perceived mistake, and when a similar situation presents itself use what you have learned to create a more desirable outcome. 2. Be positive. Look on the “can do” side of things rather than the “can’t do”. You’ve accomplished lots in your life, and you will accomplish even more in the future. 3. Be in charge of your thoughts. What is a thought? A thought is the answer to a question you’ve asked yourself. If your thinking negative thoughts, you’re probably asking a negative question. Change the questions to be more positive. 4. Do you let the words of others affect you? Do you worry about what others think of you? Remember no one can make you feel inferior without your consent. It’s not what they say to you that is the problem. It’s what you say to yourself after they stop talking. 5. Play the wouldn’t it be great game. Instead of feeding your ego with thoughts of “I don’t want this”; play a game with yourself and every time you start feeling yourself slip into a negative place say “Wouldn’t it be great if I had what I want.” 6. At the end of each day list your achievements and successes throughout that day. 7. Visualize your day before it starts. When you wake up in the morning, play over in your mind the events of the day as though they had already happened, and they were a success. Visualize all of the meetings that you will have, the people you will talk to, the outcomes you desire. Visualize success and confidence and it will be so. 5 Habits to Help You Feel Your Best 1. Nurture your spirit: spend time in prayer and meditation. 2. Stay hydrated: drink at least six to eight glasses of water a day. 3. Get plenty of sleep: seven to eight hours of sleep every night. 4. Exercise: for at least 20-30 minutes a day. 5. Keep a regular schedule: This reduces stress when you know to do next. Intuitive Wellness Tip: Time For A Tune In 08/01/2011
Whenever you experience unpleasant sensations in your body like a headache, or back ache; stop for a moment and tune into your body. Check in and see if an emotion or situation triggered the sensation. You may need to stop what you are doing, and go to a quiet place to process what you are feeling. Thank your body for giving you signals that it’s time to take a break, slow down, or just take better care of yourself. Then give your body permission to release the sensations and emotions. Intuitive Wellness Tip: Learn Step By Step 07/27/2011
"In order to reach a state of complete understanding, we must go through a process that progresses from a superficial understanding to increasingly greater refinement and subtlety of comprehension, until our understanding becomes fully integrated and total." Yoga Sutra~ I.17 From spiritual growth to learning how to do something new learning is always a process. And not a process that should be rushed or judged. Each one of us learns at our own pace so instead of beating yourself up for not "getting it" enjoy the process of learning step by step. Whenever you feel stuck or don't know what do there is one sure fire way to get those creative juices flowing again.....do something you have never done. Listen to a new style of music. Wear a dress instead of pants. If you never wear make-up put on a little lipstick. Give it a try, and mix up your routine a bit. Not only will it help you get out a rut, but you will add a little fun back into your life. Intuitive Wellness Tip: Get Grounded 07/20/2011

It’s two in the afternoon and you’re fading…we have all been there. And usually our first urge is to grab a cup of coffee or a sugary snack. But you know where this gets you. In another hour you will be reaching for another cup of coffee or candy bar. Instead of reaching for the java give this a try anytime you need a quick “pick me up”. Breath of Fire: Kapalabhati 1. Sit in a comfortable position either sitting in a chair or cross legged on the floor keeping your back nice and straight. 2. Inhale and when all the air has been exhaled from your lungs contract or pump your abdomen causing a forceful release of air through the nose. When you inhale you are drawing the belly in and when you exhale you are releasing your belly. Relax for a moment between inhales. Repeat the pumping of the abdomen and focus on quick breathes that emphasize exhalation. *IF you have hypertension, heart disease, or hernia please consult a medical professional before you practice skull shining.
