Welcome to Functional Yoga of Central Arkansas with Christina South, RYT What type of yoga do you teach? I teach vinyasa/flow and restorative yoga classes. Each class focuses on three aspects of yoga: Breath work, posture, and meditation.
How are your classes different from traditional yoga classes? Many people are turned off by all the chanting and new age teachings that are taught in traditional yoga classes. In fact, for many it's the only reason they have never tried yoga. No chanting, or new age type meditation are taught in my classes. Instead we focus on breath work, postures/asana, and mediation as a relaxation technique.
Why Yoga? Yoga is a whole body wellness exercise program. It not only helps strengthen and tone your entire body, but it also increases flexibility and can improve concentration. It helps reduce stress and improves your overall well being.
How long is a typical class? Adult classes typically last 50 to 60 minutes.
What yoga training have you received? My 200 hour Hatha/Vinyasa yoga training was under Robin Johnson founder of Turquoise Tree Yoga in Little Rock, AR and I have also studied with Courtney Butler of Balance Yoga and Wellness in Hot Springs, AR. I have been a Registered Yoga Teacher since 2010.
